If you have ever been depleted of all of your energy, you will relate to this post. Depletion makes you feel apathetic. You just can't bring yourself to care anymore. You want to care. You know you need to care, but you just can't care.

Our energy is our life force. It's what gets us out of bed, helps us do the things we need to do, and have the ability to function in our fast-paced lives. Without energy, we struggle to function at all.

Energy has different names in different cultures. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, energy is referred to as Qi (pronounced chi). In Japanese, it is known as Ki. In India's Ayurvedic Medicine, it is known as Prana. You will also find energy spoken of in the Bible. In Hebrew, it is known as Chai or Chay and in Greek, Pnema.

In the Strong's Concordance, H2416-chay or chai, means living, alive, flowing, fresh (of water), lively, active (of man), life, sustenance, appetite.

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (chay); and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7 KJV

There are many things in our personal world that can chip away at our energy or our life. Most of the time, we can face the world and all its challenges. We may be worn out at the end of the day but feel quite rejuvenated with a good night's sleep. That's the way it should be. Our bodies are VERY capable self-healers.

However, when you deal with stress after stress, storm after storm, sickness after sickness, hurt after hurt, loss after loss without time to catch your breath, you can be sure your energy levels are being affected.

Overwhelming, constant stress can affect your body as well. In natural health, we are huge proponents of balancing your pH (potential hydrogen). If your pH is too alkaline, your digestion slows down and you begin to reabsorb the toxins your body was trying to release. If you're too acidic, your digestion speeds up to the point that food is rushed through your body, proper digestion is hindered and you are unable to absorb nutrients. This will leave you malnourished no matter how much you eat.

There are five patterns in measuring the pH. The fifth and most harmful pattern is where the upper and lower digestion is acidic. This is called the STRESS pattern. It can be brought on by stress and it is VERY stressful to your body. It is the only pattern where strenuous exercise is not recommended because the body is already too stressed.

When stress becomes overwhelming, unrelenting and damaging, you have to take action. This is the time when everyone and everything in your life needs to be reevaluated. Take inventory of what/who is draining you and what/who is filling you. Anything or anybody that is depleting your energy must be put on the back burner. Prioritize healing before you run of options.

What can you do to restore your energy levels?

For me, I made having fun a priority. I had not had fun in a long time because I was in one crisis after another for about three years. Nature photography is my favorite hobby. So, I jumped in my vehicle and started riding dirt roads all by myself. Windows down, music off. Hours of just listening to nature and looking for inspiration. This was the beginning of my healing.

Do things you love that you haven't done in a long time. If you're married, do fun things together, too. Your marriage energy needs revival as well.
